The UPS Boy
About Me
Throughout most of my life, my "Bio's" have described me as a Clinical Psychologist. It wasn't until my 40's and 50's that I realized I could call myself something else; that this work role was not the only way to define me.
First I experimented by adding "creatively integrative" to the therapist role, to let people know I have a creative side, and not only do I create an individualized therapy experience, but I also foster my client's creativity with art interventions, role play and other experiential formats. Trauma, which has become my speciality, is serious business, and interestingly, I've noted that middle age can trigger old wounds.
Then I added yoga instructor to my list of accomplishments. I have a strong belief that the mind and body are connected. While there's a place for hot, sweaty yoga, I teach slow mindful yoga to build nervous system resilience. In my 50's, I've found that being able to take things less seriously is helpful and yoga helps me with this.
Now I'm trying on "blogger" to describe myself. I got some positive feedback, and a few chuckles, from friends so I thought I'd "Put it Out There", as I'm known for saying.
But if you really want to know about me, you should know I'm a woman navigating this route called aging, and I've laughed and cried along the way. I love connecting people, and it's important to me that my readers know they are not alone on this journey.
